How QUILL Works
QUILL is a sustained one-to-one mentorship built around the writer and the work in progress. We meet weekly, allowing us to follow the manuscript closely, address problems as they arise, and build momentum from one session to the next.
Weekly Sessions
We meet once a week for two hours, giving your work consistent attention and allowing the conversation to develop alongside the manuscript.
Manuscript Review
You may submit up to 12 double-spaced pages each week for close reading, discussion, and detailed feedback.
Editing & Revision
We work through craft, structure, revision, and line-level concerns, focusing on what the manuscript needs at each stage of development.
Ongoing Guidance
Because the mentorship is continuous, we can look beyond individual pages to the larger project, your writing goals, and the decisions shaping the work as a whole.
The Mentorship
QUILL is shaped around the individual writer. There is no fixed curriculum. The work on the page determines where we focus our attention, allowing us to move between manuscript development, craft, editing, revision, and the larger questions that arise as a project develops.
Close Reading
Your pages receive careful attention to both the larger manuscript and the choices being made sentence by sentence.
Editorial Guidance
Feedback may move between structure, character, scene, voice, pacing, clarity, line editing, and revision depending on what the work needs.
A Continuing Conversation
Weekly meetings allow us to follow the manuscript over time, revisit earlier decisions, and respond as the work changes and develops.
Guest Authors
QUILL writers are also invited to selected Crow Story House guest-author sessions, bringing additional perspectives on craft, process, publication, and the writing life.

QUILL is offered on a month-to-month basis, allowing the mentorship to continue for as long as it remains useful to the writer and the work.
All fees are in Canadian dollars. GST is added where applicable.
Who QUILL Is For
QUILL is for writers who want sustained, individual attention on a manuscript or larger writing project. It is particularly suited to writers who are ready to work consistently, revise deeply, and develop the project over time with close editorial guidance.
You do not need to have all the answers before you begin. QUILL creates the space to work through the questions as the manuscript develops.
